Reds 7 – Cardinals 2

The Cincinnati Reds challenged the the St. Louis Cardinals yesterday at Great American Ballpark with the Reds earning the win 7 to 2. It was one heck of a game that devotees with Reds tickets will definitely cherish. Baseball isn’t the only game in town. See what other cheap sports tickets are out there.

Reds pitcher Homer Bailey (4.78 ERA) got the win, while Joel Pineiro (3.44 ERA) took the loss for the Cardinals. Homer Bailey went 7 solid innings for the Reds, allowed 7 hits, no home runs and one earned run with one walk and 7 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Reds was Jared Burton (4.61), and Ramon Ramirez (4.35). The Cardinals’s starter Joel Pineiro went 6 innings, allowed 8 hits, 3 home runs and 7 earned runs with one walk and one strikeout. Todd Wellemeyer (5.76), and Mitchell Boggs (4.29) also pitched for the Cardinals. With the win, Bailey’s record goes to 7-5, while Pineiro is at 15-12.

Jay Bruce provided much of the offense for the Reds with an incredible 5 runs batted in. In addition to the 7 runs, the Reds scored 8 hits and committed no errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Reds, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. The Cardinals didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Cardinals got 2 runs, 9 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Gary Cederstrom, Field Culbreth, Brian O’Nora and Adrian Johnson. There were 12,026 Reds ticket holders in attendance at Great American Ballpark.

The win puts the Reds at a record of 75-82, (15 games behind the division leader), while the loss brings the Cardinals to 90-67, at the top of their division. The Cardinals get a chance for revenge tomorrow. There are still plenty of tickets available so take a look.
