Phillies fall to Cardinals 8-4

The St. Louis Cardinals did battle with the the Philadelphia Phillies yesterday at Busch Stadium with the Cardinals victorious 8 to 4. It was a huge win that rooters with Cards baseball tickets aren’t likely to forget.

Cardinals pitcher Blake Hawksworth (4.85 ERA) got the win, while Kyle Kendrick (4.82 ERA) took the loss for the Phillies. Blake Hawksworth went 6 innings for the Cardinals, allowed 10 hits, no home runs and 4 earned runs with 3 walks and one strikeout. Also pitching for the Cardinals was Trever Miller (3.63), Jason Motte (2.63), and Kyle McClellan (1.91). The Phillies’s starter Kyle Kendrick went 5 innings, allowed 7 hits, 3 home runs and 7 earned runs with 3 walks and 2 strikeouts. Chad Durbin (3.29), J.C. Romero (3.20), and Ryan Madson (6.08) also pitched for the Phillies. With the win, Hawksworth’s record goes to 4-5, while Kendrick drops to 5-4.

In addition to the 8 runs, the Cardinals put up 8 hits and committed no errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Cardinals, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. The Phillies didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Phillies mustered 4 runs, 13 hits and no errors.
