Jaime Garcia went 6 innings for the Cardinals, allowed 6 hits, one home run and 3 earned runs with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Cardinals was Mitchell Boggs (3.15), Jason Motte (2.36), Dennys Reyes (3.25), Kyle McClellan (1.98), and Trever Miller (3.55). The Mets’s starter Johan Santana went 5.2 innings, allowed 13 hits, one home run and 7 earned runs with one walk and 2 strikeouts. Manny Acosta (3.21), Hisanori Takahashi (4.47), Elmer Dessens (1.48), Francisco Rodriguez (2.47), Bobby Parnell (0.96), and Raul Valdes (4.01) also pitched for the Mets. With the win, MacDougal’s record goes to 1-0, while Feliciano drops to 2-6. Ryan Franklin earned the save for the Cardinals, bringing his saves up to 19.
