The Arizona Diamondbacks squeaked to victory over the St. Louis Cardinals yesterday at Busch Stadium with the Diamondbacks earning the win 4 to 2. Diamondbacks pitcher Barry Enright (1.80 ERA) got the win, while Jeff Suppan (6.44 ERA) took the loss for the Cardinals. Barry Enright went 5 innings for the Diamondbacks, allowed 4 hits, no home runs and one earned run with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Diamondbacks was Blaine Boyer (5.56), Juan Gutierrez (7.67), and Chad Qualls (8.23). The Cardinals’s starter Jeff Suppan went 5.2 innings, allowed 9 hits, one home run and 3 earned runs with 3 walks and 2 strikeouts. Mitchell Boggs (2.73), Trever Miller (3.15), and Kyle McClellan (2.43) also pitched for the Cardinals. With the win, Enright’s record goes to 1-0, while Suppan is at 0-4. Aaron Heilman earned the save for the Diamondbacks, bringing his saves up to 3.
