Wow! What a game you saw last night if you had St. Louis Cardinals tickets, when Adam Wainwright threw a no hitter for the WIN_TEAM!! Also pitching for the Cardinals was Dennys Reyes (3.00), and Fernando Salas (0.00). The Diamondbacks’s starter Dontrelle Willis went 4 innings, allowed 7 hits, 2 home runs and 5 earned runs with 6 walks and one strikeout. Carlos Rosa (6.75), Sam Demel (3.38), Chad Qualls (8.54), and Esmerling Vasquez (5.54) also pitched for the Diamondbacks. With the win, Wainwright’s record goes to 11-5, while Willis drops to 2-3.
Albert Pujols provided much of the offense for the Cardinals with an incredible 5 runs batted in. In addition to the 8 runs, the Cardinals put up 13 hits and committed no errors. Felipe Lopez led the Cardinals in hitting with 4 hits, followed by Albert Pujols’s 3 hits, and Matt Holliday with 2. Yadier Molina had a tough day at the plate, leaving 6 runners on base. The Diamondbacks didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. Tony Abreu could not get much going at the plate as he left 6 runners on base. The Diamondbacks got no runs, 6 hits and 2 errors.
