The St. Louis Cardinals did battle with the the Philadelphia Phillies yesterday at Busch Stadium with the Cardinals picking up the W 5 to 1. Also pitching for the Cardinals was Kyle McClellan (1.89), and Trever Miller (3.63). The Phillies’s starter Joe Blanton went 7 innings, allowed 7 hits, one home run and 3 earned runs with one walk and 3 strikeouts. J.C. Romero (3.15), and Jose Contreras (4.02) also pitched for the Phillies. With the win, Garcia’s record goes to 9-4, while Blanton is at 3-6. Ryan Franklin earned the save for the Cardinals, bringing his saves up to 18.

In addition to the 5 runs, the Cardinals scored 7 hits and committed one error. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Cardinals, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. The Phillies didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Phillies managed one run, 4 hits and one error.
