Cardinals 8 – Reds 4

The St. Louis Cardinals challenged the the Cincinnati Reds yesterday at Great American Ballpark with the Cardinals earning the win 8 to 4. It was one heck of a game that devotees with Cards baseball tickets will definitely cherish.

Cardinals pitcher Jaime Garcia (2.71 ERA) got the win, while Johnny Cueto (3.38 ERA) took the loss for the Reds. Jaime Garcia went 5.1 innings for the Cardinals, allowed 2 hits, no home runs and 4 earned runs with 5 walks and 2 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Cardinals was Fernando Salas (2.03), Trever Miller (4.18), and Kyle McClellan (1.96). The Reds’s starter Johnny Cueto went 5.1 innings, allowed 7 hits, one home run and 4 earned runs with no walks and 4 strikeouts. Bill Bray (4.50), Logan Ondrusek (3.47), Nick Masset (4.21), and Jordan Smith (2.08) also pitched for the Reds. With the win, Garcia’s record goes to 10-5, while Cueto is at 11-3. Ryan Franklin earned the save for the Cardinals, bringing his saves up to 20.

In addition to the 8 runs, the Cardinals scored 12 hits and committed no errors. Matt Holliday led the Cardinals in hitting with 4 hits, followed by Yadier Molina’s 2 hits. Colby Rasmus had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Reds didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Reds got 4 runs, 6 hits and 3 errors.
