Cardinals 7 – Astros 3

The St. Louis Cardinals challenged the the Houston Astros yesterday at Minute Maid Park with the Cardinals triumphant 7 to 3. It was a thrilling night of baseball that anyone with Cardinals tickets will definitely cherish. It’s not too late to take in a game so get your baseball tickets soon!

Cardinals pitcher Kyle Lohse (4.81 ERA) got the win, while Wandy Rodriguez (2.97 ERA) took the loss for the Astros. Kyle Lohse went 6 innings for the Cardinals, allowed 5 hits, 2 home runs and 3 earned runs with one walk and 4 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Cardinals was Jason Motte (4.83), and Kyle McClellan (2.78). The Astros’s starter Wandy Rodriguez went 5 innings, allowed 9 hits, one home run and 6 earned runs with no walks and 5 strikeouts. Chad Paronto (18.90), Sammy Gervacio (2.20), Wilton Lopez (10.38), and LaTroy Hawkins (2.28) also pitched for the Astros. With the win, Lohse’s record goes to 6-8, while Rodriguez falls to 13-11.

Mark DeRosa provided much of the offense for the Cardinals with an incredible 4 runs batted in. In addition to the 7 runs, the Cardinals managed 15 hits and committed no errors. Skip Schumaker and Mark DeRosa tied for most hits for the Cardinals with 3 hits, followed by Jason LaRue with 2 hits. The Astros didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Astros mustered 3 runs, 6 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Jeff Kellogg, Tim Timmons, Mark Wegner and Rick Reed. There were 34,705 Astros ticket holders in attendance at Minute Maid Park.

The win puts the Cardinals at a record of 88-63, at the top of their division, while the loss brings the Astros to 70-80, (17.5 games behind the division leader). The Astros get a chance for revenge tomorrow. There are still plenty of tickets available so take a look.
