Brewers take close one from Cardinals

The Milwaukee Brewers beat the St. Louis Cardinals in 10 innings yesterday in a hard-fought game of baseball. Each baseball game is different, and an MLB extra-innings game is always a possibility. It was a great baseball game that fans with Brewers tickets will remember for quite some time.

Brewers pitcher Zach Braddock (6.00 ERA) got the win, while Jason Motte (2.70 ERA) took the loss for the Cardinals. Manny Parra went 5.1 innings for the Brewers, allowed 4 hits, 2 home runs and 2 earned runs with 4 walks and 10 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Brewers was Dave Bush (4.97), Kameron Loe (1.50), and Carlos Villanueva (3.30). The Cardinals’s starter Jaime Garcia went 6 innings, allowed 8 hits, one home run and 2 earned runs with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Kyle McClellan (1.71), and Ryan Franklin (1.71) also pitched for the Cardinals. With the win, Braddock’s record goes to 1-0, while Motte drops to 2-2. John Axford earned the save for the Brewers, bringing his saves up to 4.

In addition to the 4 runs, the Brewers put up 10 hits and committed one error. Prince Fielder led the Brewers in hitting with 3 hits, followed by Ryan Braun’s 2 hits, and Rickie Weeks with 2. Corey Hart had a tough day at the plate, leaving 5 runners on base. The Cardinals didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. Skip Schumaker could not get much going at the plate as he left 4 runners on base. The Cardinals got 3 runs, 7 hits and 2 errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Andy Fletcher, Tim McClelland, Mike Everitt and Todd Tichenor. There were 40,467 Cardinals ticket holders in attendance at Busch Stadium.
