Cardinals pitcher Joel Pineiro (3.24 ERA) got the win, while Yorman Bazardo (9.55 ERA) took the loss for the Astros. Joel Pineiro went 7 solid innings for the Cardinals, allowed 5 hits, no home runs and one earned run with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Cardinals was Trever Miller (1.98), and Todd Wellemeyer (5.81). The Astros’s starter Yorman Bazardo went 3.2 innings, allowed 6 hits, no home runs and 6 earned runs with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Wesley Wright (5.89), Doug Brocail (3.07), Tim Byrdak (3.29), Chad Paronto (18.69), and Jose Valverde (2.16) also pitched for the Astros. Miguel Tejada had the most hits for the Astros (3), followed by Michael Bourn (2). Hunter Pence could not get much going at the plate as he left 4 runners on base. The Astros mustered 2 runs, 8 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Tim Timmons, Mark Wegner, Rick Reed and Jeff Kellogg. There were 32,644 Astros ticket holders in attendance at Minute Maid Park.
