Astros thrashed by Cardinals 11-2

The St. Louis Cardinals annihilated the Houston Astros yesterday at Minute Maid Park with the Cardinals victorious 11 to 2. It was a huge win that rooters with Cardinals tickets aren’t likely to forget. You never know what you’ll see at a baseball game so get your cheap tickets today!

Cardinals pitcher Joel Pineiro (3.24 ERA) got the win, while Yorman Bazardo (9.55 ERA) took the loss for the Astros. Joel Pineiro went 7 solid innings for the Cardinals, allowed 5 hits, no home runs and one earned run with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Cardinals was Trever Miller (1.98), and Todd Wellemeyer (5.81). The Astros’s starter Yorman Bazardo went 3.2 innings, allowed 6 hits, no home runs and 6 earned runs with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Wesley Wright (5.89), Doug Brocail (3.07), Tim Byrdak (3.29), Chad Paronto (18.69), and Jose Valverde (2.16) also pitched for the Astros. With the win, Pineiro’s record goes to 15-11, while Bazardo drops to 0-2.

In addition to the 11 runs, the Cardinals put up 15 hits and committed no errors. Colby Rasmus led the Cardinals in hitting with 3 hits, followed by Yadier Molina’s 2 hits, and Mark DeRosa with 2. Miguel Tejada had the most hits for the Astros (3), followed by Michael Bourn (2). Hunter Pence could not get much going at the plate as he left 4 runners on base. The Astros mustered 2 runs, 8 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Tim Timmons, Mark Wegner, Rick Reed and Jeff Kellogg. There were 32,644 Astros ticket holders in attendance at Minute Maid Park.
