Wandy Rodriguez went 7 solid innings for the Astros, allowed 2 hits, no home runs and no earned runs with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Astros was Tim Byrdak (3.51), and Wilton Lopez (2.95). The Cardinals’s starter Chris Carpenter went 7 innings, allowed 6 hits, no home runs and 2 earned runs with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Kyle McClellan (2.24) also pitched for the Cardinals. With the win, Rodriguez’s record goes to 11-12, while Carpenter falls to 14-5. Brandon Lyon earned the save for the Astros, bringing his saves up to 10.
In addition to the 3 runs, the Astros managed 7 hits and committed one error. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Astros, as nobody managed more than 2 hits.
